The Energy Transformation Taskforce has reached the half-way mark in its role to deliver the Western Australian Government’s Energy Transformation Strategy, to ensure cleaner, more reliable and affordable electricity for Western Australian households and business for years to come.
The Taskforce is on track to delivering each of its three ambitious workstreams:
- The design of the new Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) arrangements is almost complete, and the Taskforce is entering an exciting new phase of intensive consultation on the draft Amending Rules.
- The Taskforce’s Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Roadmap – an Australian first – was released last month.
- Consultation has commenced on the first major package of changes to the Electricity Networks Access Code (Access Code) since it was made in 2004.
- Modelling for the Whole of System Plan (WOSP) is also well-advanced, with consultation on draft findings to occur in the coming months.
The Taskforce would like to acknowledge the team in the Energy Transformation Implementation Unit and its program partners, the Australian Energy Market Operator and Western Power for the tremendous effort so far, and to all stakeholders who continue to generously share their time and knowledge to ensure we deliver the best outcomes possible.
