Our reconciliation aim is to provide these services in a manner that is equitable, responsive and relevant to Aboriginal people. The Department’s Reconciliation Action Plan 2018-2019 to 2020-2021 outlines its commitment to justice services and outcomes for Aboriginal people. The Department recognises that building strong, respectful and collaborative relationships with Aboriginal people, organisations and communities is fundamental to achieving its objectives for reconciliation.
The Plan highlights the importance of providing opportunities to Aboriginal people and organisations to achieve positive outcomes for the broader Western Australian Aboriginal community. The Department values the unique skills and knowledge that Aboriginal staff bring to the Department and its pathways encourage Aboriginal people to work with the Department and progress to senior leadership positions.
Progress with the implementation of the Reconciliation Action Plan is monitored by the Department’s Corporate Executive Committee.
