Restricted travel to designated regional areas

Form
Access to the Kimberley is restricted to help stop the spread of COVID-19 into our vulnerable communities.

Access to the Kimberley, the entire Shire of Ngaanyatjarraku which forms part of Goldfields-Esperance, and parts of the Shire of East Pilbara including the communities of Jigalong, Martu homeland communities and Kiwirrkurra,  is restricted. This is to help stop the spread of COVID-19 into our very vulnerable communities, which could have catastrophic consequences. Some exemptions apply, including for essential services and essential workers, subject to strict conditions.

Further instruction

  • The restrictions for the designated regions are enforceable through emergency determination powers under the Biosecurity Act 2015 (Cth).
  • A jail term of up to five-years could apply to those who breach the determination.
