Review of the Constitutional Centre of Western Australia

Corporate report
The September 2018 review of the Centre's operations.

The inquiry recommended several options for creating a more contemporary centre, which is able to meet the needs of students and teachers into the future.

The Constitutional Centre of Western Australia was established to promote public awareness of our Federal system of government with particular emphasis on its constitutional basis and the relationship with our State system. This is achieved through education programs for school students, and public forums, seminars and conferences for adults.

It was recommended to the WA Government that the Centre remain open with a clearer direction for the future.

This includes re-focusing resources to ensure more students across WA are better able to access information. It will include improving the Centre's online learning materials, increasing onsite teacher training at the Centre and reinvigorating the Centre precinct by collaborating with other not-for-profit organisations to potentially increase the use of the heritage buildings.

School visits to the Centre will continue, with 8,500 school children visiting in 2017-18.  However, visits to schools by Centre staff discontinued at the end of 2018 to allow for these new initiatives to occur.
