Dampier Peninsula project

A project established to maximise the social and economic opportunities for Aboriginal businesses and communities arising from the sealing of the Broome-Cape Leveque road.

The Project aims to maximise the social and economic opportunities arising from the sealing of the Cape-Leveque Road and mitigate potential impacts through partnering with the Traditional Owners and community councils to protect the unique social, cultural and environmental values of the area.

$1.021 million has been allocated to this project over three years (2019/20 to 2021/22). This will provide funding for project management and consultation with Traditional Owners and community councils.

The Project is co-led by the Department of the Premier and Cabinet and the Kimberley Development Commission, and involves more than a dozen local, state and Commonwealth Government agencies.

For more information, read the Premier's 9 May, 2019 media statement about investment in the Kimberley.
