The Western Australian Commissioner for Equal Opportunity is reponsible for the administration of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984.
The main objective of the Act is to:
promote equality of opportunity in Western Australia and to provide remedies in respect of discrimination on the grounds of sex, marital status, pregnancy, sexual orientation, family responsibility or family status, race, religious or political conviction, impairment, or age, or involving sexual or racial harassment or, in certain cases, on gender history grounds.
You can lodge a complaint with the Commissioner for Equal Opportunity:
- on your own behalf
- on behalf of yourself and others
- as a union representative on your behalf of a union member
- as an advocate or carer of a person with an impairment that is unable to write or sign their complaint
