The Constitutional Centre of Western Australia

The Centre is the only complex of its kind in Australia and provides information, a program of exhibitions, seminars and events. It gives Western Australians the opportunity to learn about our federal system of State and Commonwealth government and to explore current issues.The centre provides an opportunity to examine our political inheritance and to understand how individuals can contribute to the State's democratic development.

Housed in the beautifully restored old Hale School heritage building near Parliament House, our facilities include exhibition and seminar spaces, a theatrette, a parliamentary-style debating chamber, and permanent displays on the Constitution, aspects of citizenship and history relating to governance. 

Our courses

• enable teachers to fulfill the aims of the WA humanities and social sciences civics and citizenship curriculum and the early years learning framework
• provide free, hands-on, curriculum focused activities to support your humanities and social sciences classes, and years 11 and 12 politics and law
• provide experienced educators with current Working With Children clearance
• are free and bookings are essential.

We welcome school groups in years 1 – 12 to WA curriculum based programs guided by our education staff. Make a booking.

Loan boxes containing an interactive activity and teacher's notes are available for regional and remote schools. Loan a box.

Visitors are always welcome but bookings are essential. Community groups and members of the public are welcome to participate in our seminars and forums. Groups may also arrange guided programs.
